What is Unix hosting?

Unix hosting is the predominant form of web hosting. Most hosting is based on servers running either Unix or Linux. Linux is very similar to Unix and it is also open source, thus being free. Of course your site can also be hosted on a Windows server, but it really doesn't matter. The main difference is the cost between the different servers.
